Help with your SkyLine/SkyBest Internet Equipment

Can I use any portable internet device with SkyBest Internet?

Yes. Once you have established a wireless connection at your location, you may connect any portable Internet device.

Using my own modem

SkyBest modems are preconfigured for SkyBest Broadband Internet Service.

If you would like to use your customer-owned modem, please bring your modem by our SkyLine/SkyBest Customer Service Center for testing.

Modem/router combinations are incompatible with SkyLine/SkyBest service.

What is the purpose of the broadband modem?

The modem translates the broadband signal from your phone line and relays the information to your router or computer.

What is the purpose of a router?

A router allows you to wirelessly surf the web, connect to the internet using multiple computers as well as connect gaming devices, mobile devices and printers.

Using my own router

SkyLine/SkyBest offers wireless routers for lease. You may also use your own.

If you are a dynamic IP customer, you should set your router to auto. If you are a static IP customer, contact us for Gateway, IP and DNS information.

How to troubleshoot a slow internet connection

Speed Test

Go to www.skybestsupport.net and run a speed test to ensure that the speed you're getting is lower than normal.

Slow System?

  1. Reboot your computer.

  2. Run any updates needed on your operating system.

  3. Open your antivirus software, update that software and run a full scan.

  4. In your browser — delete cookies, temporary files, and clear cache.

Slow Speed?

If you ran a speed test and the speed seems to be low:

  1. Fiber Internet Customers: Connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable. Make sure you're not connected via Wi-Fi.

  2. Non-Fiber Internet Customers: Connect your computer to the modem with an Ethernet cable. Make sure you're not connected via Wi-Fi.

  3. Turn off and disconnect all other devices that access the internet like other computers, gaming systems, streaming devices, etc.

  4. Run the speed test again.

If the speed is much higher than before, there could be a problem with Wi-Fi interference, too many devices pulling bandwidth or the modem/router could be malfunctioning. If the speed is much lower, please call SkyLine/SkyBest Repair Services at 1-877-475-9546.

My internet is connected but is running slower than usual.

Please try the troubleshooting steps on "How to troubleshoot a slow internet connection."
