What is the purpose of a router for my business Internet service?
A router allows you to wirelessly surf the web, connect to the internet using multiple computers as well as connect gaming devices, mobile devices and printers at your business location.
What is the purpose of a modem for my business internet service?
The modem translates the broadband signal from your business line and relays the information to your router or computer.
How do I reset my business modem and wireless router?

Pull the power cord and the ethernet cable from the back of the modem and wait 30 seconds.

After 30 seconds, plug back in the ethernet cable and power cord.

Wait for the modem to go through its startup procedure.

If your business has a wireless router, unplug your router's power cord and ethernet cable and wait 30 seconds.

Be sure to connect the modem first and wait for it to finish the startup procedure.

Plug the ethernet cable back into the router. Be sure to plug it in to the WAN, or Internet, port.

Plug the power cord back into the router.

Restart your computer and try to connect to the internet.
Can I use my own router for business service?
SkyLine/SkyBest offers wireless routers for lease. You may also use your own.
If you are a dynamic IP customer, you should set your router to auto. If you are a static IP customer, contact us for Gateway, IP and DNS information.
Can I use my own modem with SkyBest Internet service?
SkyBest modems are preconfigured for SkyBest Broadband Internet Service.
If you would like to use your customer-owned modem, please bring your modem by our SkyLine/SkyBest Customer Service Center for testing.
Modem/router combinations are incompatible with SkyLine/SkyBest service.
What is the purpose of a filter for SkyBest Business Internet?
A broadband filter will remove the modem noise from your business phone line. If you are not using filters with your broadband service, you may hear line noise or your broadband service may not maintain a reliable connection.
Can I use my portable internet device with SkyBest Business Internet?
Yes. Once you have established a wireless connection at your business location, you may connect any portable Internet device.

How can my business schedule automatic updates?
By default, SkyBest Internet Guardian will automatically check for updates every three hours. To change this time:

Click on “Other Settings” located at the bottom of the main console page.

Click “Automatic Updates” then click the “Settings” link.

Be sure the box is checked next to “Automatically Check for Updates”.

Using the drop down box next to “Check for a new update once every,” select the time your business would like updates to process.

Click OK.
How can my business do an automatic update?

Open the main console and click “Overview”.

Then click “Update Now”. SkyBest Internet Guardian will automatically search for new updates.

Once complete, you will see a box stating “You now have the latest updates available.”
